SW1 collaborated with global design firm Hassell, the appointed Architect & ID consultant for this exciting new workspace for global engineering firm, Arup. We provided our expertise in project management for design implementation, strategy for branded environments and post-handover services to deliver a sophisticated and global look to their Kuala Lumpur office in a new Grade A building.

The new office sends a strong signal about the importance and value of collaboration with clients, and between team members and different teams. It includes flexible, interactive spaces to encourage the exchange of ideas and the development of integrated solutions. The open floor plan has sufficient area to comply with Covid-19 regulations.

Resource efficiency was a priority, targeting the highest possible green performance rating of GreenRE Platinum for Office Interior designs.

Our brand solution aligns with the ID concept for a workspace that embraces people in nature, a wilderness in the sky. We used images of rainforest trees in juxtaposition with iconic Arup case studies as a metaphor for stability and robust engineering with infographics to educate staff & visitors.

A ‘wishing tree’ was installed for staff to post their comments, share stories and experiences when working with Arup. Tangram puzzles were placed on magnetic writing walls in collaboration areas for people to help improve visual and analytical thinking. The shapes were produced using off-cuts from the construction process – joinery, acoustic panels etc. to promote a sustainability brand solution.
